Hello there! Welcome to week 3 of Michaelmas Term!! Hope everyone has been enjoying classes and lectures so far!! This week we'd like to inform you about Singapore Community Day, an event organised by the Singapore Overseas Unit which is catered to Singaporeans in London! Sounds pretty fun and there'll be Singaporean food so why not!! Also several career opportunities to check out below :) Have a great week ahead!! :)
1. Singapore Community Day
From the Singapore Overseas Unit: Dear all, On behalf of the Singaporean community in the UK, I warmly invite you to join us at the upcoming Singapore Community Day 2017 in London on 28 Oct 2017 (Sat)! If you haven't heard, registration is now open at https://scd28oct2017.eventbrite.co.uk! About Singapore Community Day The event will be a fun-filled day for all Singaporeans young and old, as well as their families. Psst… children under 12 attend for free! Singapore Community Day 2017 promises a wide range of food such as Chicken Rice and Chwee Kueh, entertainment and activities, with proceeds going to charity. So mai tu liao (don't wait) - join us in giving back, Singaporean-style, with good food and great fun! Singapore Day 2017 is proudly brought to you by the Singapore UK Association (SUKA), United Kingdom Singapore Students’ Council (UKSSC), Singapore Young Professionals Community Network (SYNC), Singapore Muslim Students Organisation (SMSO) UK Chapter and the Overseas Singaporean Unit (OSU). And of course, the event would not have been possible without the support of our volunteers and generous corporate sponsors. Food What's a Singaporean event without our local favourites? Indulge yourself in tantalising Singaporean delights prepared by our London restaurant partners, homemade kueh kuehs and snacks made with love by our Singaporean aunties and quench your thirst with the familiar taste of home, courtesy of Yeo's! Beneficiaries Singapore Community Day 2017 is an opportunity for you to show that you care, by helping the less fortunate in Singapore. As part of the national movement SG Cares, all proceeds from Singapore Community Day 2017 will go towards more than 80 social service organisations in Singapore which are supported by Community Chest, allowing them to focus on caring for the disadvantaged. You can be assured that every dollar goes to benefit someone in need.Thank you for making a difference to our beneficiaries' lives! Programme Highlights - Performances by Singaporean talents - Activities for children such as story book reading and colouring activities (our High Commissioner Ms Foo Chi Hsia will be reading a story to the children) - Food and Game stalls - Shopping (yes we have some retail therapy for you!) - Send a postcard home (the recipient will get to redeem a FREE packet of The Golden Duck Co salted egg yolk chips!) - Raffle and Lucky Draws (we have some pretty fantastic prizes from our very generous sponsors, including hotel stays, an airticket, Eurostar tickets, F&B vouchers, a meal for 2 hosted by our High Commissioner Ms Foo Chi Hsia and more! 2. Junior Comm
Hello freshers! Sign ups for junior comm are still open!! Singapore Tourism Board will be holding a sharing session in London. Register now by scanning the QR code below!

4. RAG opportunities - Everest Base Camp
A message from Sarah Kim - Everest base camp - RAG's debut challenge! Trek Everest to base camp for CHARITY! It will take part in September 2018. The main highlight on your journey to Everest Base Camp will be the majestic snow-capped peaks that line the steep sided valleys, and the jaw-dropping views that await you at almost every turn. Come for the info session on MONDAY, 9OCT 6PM at 3RD FLOOR SU! P/s sarah is the challenge leader for this trek!
