Hello everyone! Hope you've all been well!! We've reached the middle of summer break and WOW you can indeed feel the summer here in Singapore as it is sweltering :O Remember to drink lots of water to hydrate and cool yourself down! Singsoc has many events coming up - so many that we needed an August newsletter #2 just to tell you about everything that's going to happen!!! Do read on for more details :)

1. Dear graduating students

Hello! :) On behalf of Singsoc, we would like to congratulate everyone who has graduated or is about to graduate soon!! It has been great having you with us in Singsoc over the past year/3 years, and we wish you all the best in your future endeavours! :) This will (sadly) be the last society email we send out to you, as we will be removing you from our mailing list. This is because most of our future emails are likely to be not relevant to you, and so we wouldn't want to add more spam to your inbox! That said, please drop Victoria a message at victoria.seow.29@gmail.com if you wish to stay on in the mailing list (maybe because you want to keep up with what's happening at your alma mater, or maybe just because you happen to really like my newsletters :) ).

2. Yearbook orders

Thank you to everyone who indicated your interest in ordering a hard copy version of our upcoming Singsoc 2016/2017 yearbook!! We will now be calling for finalised orders for the yearbook!! Price: $10 (this price is heavily subsidised!) Mailing fee: +$3 You can choose whether you'd like to have it mailed to you, or if you rather collect it from me in person!! If you select the latter option, collection will take place during the first 2 weeks of September, and meeting time/location can be discussed Carousell-style :) Do consider how busy you'll be during the first 2 weeks of September though, because if you think you may not have the time to collect it in person, I would encourage choosing the mailing option instead :) Payment will take place via bank transfer, details in the order form linked below. The deadline to order a yearbook and make your bank transfer is next Friday, 11 August. 3. Warwick Summer Games

The Warwick Summer Games are back again!! The details of the event can be found in this poster which our secretary Luisa Ong has kindly helped to design :)

There is a sign up fee of approximately $10 for sports, and $5 for non-sports - this fee includes dinner!! 4. LSE x UCL takes over Altimate [CHANGE OF DATE]

The date for our upcoming LSE x UCL clubbing event @ Altimate has been moved to 25 Aug (Fri) ENTRY IS FREE, but registration prior to the event is required. 5. Destination LSE

Hey everyone! Destination LSE will be taking place this August :) in case you don't recall, it's an event aimed at letting incoming LSE offer holders meet LSE alumni over some drinks and light snacks. Here are the details of the event: Date: 15 August 2017 (Tuesday) Time: 7.00pm - 10.00pm Location: Level 2, Harry's, 28 Boat Quay While this event is free for incoming freshers, LSEAAS alumni and others will have to pay a fee of $10 and $15 respectively. 6. Springboard Singapore

The LSESU Singapore Society and Asia Careers Society (ACS) will be collaborating once again to host Springboard Singapore 2017. This year, participants will be able to visit leading investment banks and financial institutions. The selectivity of the event means you will be able to closely network with firm representatives in their offices. Looking at past events, you can expect to participate in office tours, networking dinners, case workshops and talks by senior members of the firms. Springboard Singapore provides you with the platform to impress firm representatives and has been highly successful in helping past participants secure internship offers from prestigious institutions.

Participating firms last year: J.P. Morgan, Oliver Wyman, Goldman Sachs, Standard Chartered, Nomura and more

Confirmed firms include: J.P. Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Barclays, Deutsche Bank, BNP Paribas, Nomura and KPMG

Date: 11th - 14th September 2017

Cost: £40 (early bird by 8th July) / £50 (standard) + £75 Deposit* *Deposits are only refunded upon full participation. This means punctual arrival and full attendance unless absent with a valid reason.

Eligibility: Penultimate Year Students from UK Universities (Graduating in 2019)
